- You don’t have a clear, precise goal.If you don’t know exactly where you’re going, you can’t get there! You want more money? If you’re just working for “more” money, earning one extra dollar is more. You need to be precise. How much more money do you want? What is it you want to do? What do you want your life to look like? What does your house look like? What model car are you driving? The more clear your goals are the more likely you are to achieve them.
- Your “why” isn’t powerful enough?You need a powerful reason to actually change your mindset and keep you going when the going gets tough. The doctor tells you that you need to lose weight, but you feel fine. How motivated are you? Now imagine that you can’t walk up the stairs or go from the kitchen to the living room without being out of breath and your all your joints hurt. You go the doctor and he tells that there’s only one cure for what ails you and that’s losing weight! If you lose weight you’ll be able to breathe and your joints won’t hurt. He guarantees it. Would that be more motivating? So keep asking yourself why, until you finally find the reason that really moves you.
- You don’t have a plan.You win a trip to Rome. What will you do when you get there? To get the most out of your trip you’re going to look up places to visit, get an English/Italian translation app, and have a map of the city so you can get around. You’re going to do all of these things before you even leave your house. So why is that most of us don’t plan our life? Do you want to live your best life? Then plan for it!
- You don’t have support.Let’s face it, not all of our family and friends are going to support our dreams and goals. Arnold Schwartzenegger wanted to be a body builder. His family tried to discourage him. His father wanted him to become a police officer and his mother wanted him to go to a trade school. Arnold didn’t care, he wanted to be a body builder and fortunately for him he found support through his coaches. He looked to his idols, Reg Park, Steve Reeves and Johnny Weissmuller, to remind himself that if they could do it, so could he.
